GUMOTEX is the modern successor to a concern which began in 1950 in Břeclav as a manufacturer of protective clothing made from rubberised textiles. Since 1952 GUMOTEX has been an independent concern specialising in inflatable mattresses, boats, dinghies and other products from rubberised textiles. In the 1960s and 70s the company’s portfolio was expanded to include products from polyurethane foam with its main partners being furniture and car manufacturers. Up until 1995 the manufacturing programme also included toys for children, originally from rubber but later made from PVC and polythene.
In 1991 GUMOTEX was transformed into a state-owned joint-stock company, which was then completely privatised three years later.
